RE:Oculus Rift SWas just about to post this! Good find. I agree that there is almost no way they would change away from S7 because I think we are still the only ones who can do that much bandwidth on a cable that thin. Even if VR takes another 2 years to hit a reasonable stride, the headsets will still be tethered.

I'm actually a gamer very interested in moving to VR but I don't have the number of 3.0USB ports required for the tracking stations and headsets in the first gen. Now that content is building up, the headsets are dropping in price and I can make the most of it through the new design, I'm personally way more likely to buy in. I can't speak for everyone but if as an interested party I found barriers to entry, there are a lot of people who would have bounced off even harder.
