SAFE Act - good for WEED or not?The article in the post today painted a bleak picture if it were to pass, but I don't see it as a negative for Canopy. It will light a massive fire under US expansion, and hopefully the expansion of US policy as well. I think that we have had a more than generous lead time on the market and have an establishing first mover advantage. Beyond just scale, we have expertise, partnerships, IP, and a global footprint. US companies will start to suck up capital, I couldn't agree more, but I would argue that we are fully capitalized, and that it will have a muted effect on WEED in particular. US stocks will likely heat up which may steal some investment money buying into WEED, I'll admit as much. All that said though, I'd be a massive step towards the ultimate opening of the US market, whether federally or through states rights. There is a zero percent chance that any candidate running against Trump in 2020 will not have an MJ policy as a part of their platform. Let the US come, let them drive up production, drive down the cost of the flower, and ultimately our input cost to future value added products. It's inevitable so why worry about it. We're in a good place and will ride the wave. There will be a TON of competition in the US and we need to welcome it. May the best man win. GLTA
