I emailed canntab and received the following response for anyone that has the spinco companies in their TFSA:

We are aware of this issue with TD and have been in touch with them to confirm the following:
1) SpinCos should be elegible for Registered account
2) we believe TD’s data provider has incorrectly flagged some of the SpinCos
3) we are working TD to get this sorted
4) most pressing - TD will NOT remove these shares during this process. Shareholders do NOT have to be concerned - unless the process does not result as we expect.
