RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:A bit of an explanationA comparison to Nortel is hilarious and shows you are only out to slander the company. They couldn't be more different.
For one Nortel issued shares like candy to buy the #10 company in sectors repeatedly so they had hundreds of business lines but were not #1 or #2 in any of them. In the end they had billions of shares outstanding so even though it was a penny stock it was still the largest tech stock on TSX.
Maxar is #1 in all 4 segments it operates, SSL is still top dog in a dog industry right now and so maybe that whole industry moves to smaller satellites who knows but the important thing is the expertise.
Nortel went under solely to screw over pensioners, as their patents and lines of businesses sold off covered their corp debts even at firesale prices. Maxar pensioner count is peanuts.
Nortel in the telecom business was dependant on large private capex from Bell/Verizon and co which obviously crashed in the recession. Maxar is government contract based.
Maxar does need to prove it can pay down some debt no question, but with divvy cut and cost rationalizations they should cashflow very nicely going forward. Synergies with Digitalglobe haven't even really happened yet.....and yea with that new canadian ship contract they can move over electrical engineers as needed from the SSL division to keep the expertise in house in case large sats recover.
