Odlum Brown is an old family run business. A friend of mine has worked there all his life, his dad before him. I interviewed with Murray Leith once for an analyst job there. Very hard place to get in. They are one of the only independents left in Canada. If they are buying, then I can only see that as a good sign. I own a whole pile of HOT.UN. Haven't bought any since July of 2017. I am under water of course but not if I include distributions. It'll even itself out, I'm not too worried about it. Some businesses are running just fine but for some reason they can't get traction. But once they do, they take off. See DRG.UN or DIR.UN. Long struggles, but they found their groove.
