How stock market values companyThe current market cap of the whole Torstar company everything in is 68 million dollars . When you take out the 68 million dollars of cash , the whole company is valued at Zero by the market , yes folks nothing . And for this , the management gets bonuses . The reason I still own the stock , is I can't help but believe that there is value somewhere . Maybe the next management team will find it . I know that I will never get back even close to what I invested into this company , but it would be good to get some of it back . Another loser on this investment are the Federal and Provincial governments because I have most of my Torstar stock in RRSP's , now RRIF's . They won't be collecting much tax revenue from me on this stock .
