Health care sell off todayThe heallth care sector today got hit from two directions: The news from China that the GDP in the 4th quarter came in higher than expected, 6.4% , something that shifted capital out of utilities, bonds, and healthcare and into cyclicals, metals, and commodities in general. The other blow came from the political rhetoric of the politicians in the US about a Single Payor system, or health coverage for all, something similar or the same like the Canadian system. That roiled the health care sector down by 28%. In sympathy with the big boys, CRH fell as well.A critical question we must ask the management at the press conference at the end of the month is how a single payor system would affect the business of the company. In Canada endoscopic clinics are allowed to operate outside the hospitals and they bill the government for the services.
