the average cost of the shares previously owned is irrelevant. After refinancing, your existing shares and new shares will be worth whatever the market dictates at that time.
What you are saying (or what I am understanding) is that if my current average is $1.00, I will keep this value. I don't think so.

Your shares do not expire. If you do nothing (i.e. do not participate in the rights offer), your share counts remain the same, the average cost remain the same as before the re-financing.
