I am still in awe of the Acreage deal and find myself chuckling every time I think of Bruce and the endless surprises he seems to have up his sleeve. The most exciting thing about this deal is how it is going to open up the floodgates to the US in terms of mergers & acquisitions (personally, I think CRON will drop the next shoe). The CNBC interview with Bruce & the CEO of Acreage yesterday made me grin - the entire panel of financial pundits was clearly gobsmacked by the deal and how brilliantly it was structured. I also have to say how impressive it is that Canopy & Acreage have been in talks for eight months (according to an article I read) and yet there was not even a whiff of a leak. Kudos, Bruce.
I do believe we are about to see a renewed frenzy across the sector that will make the Canadian green rush of the past 3-4 years look like my granny’s bridge club tea party on Valium (or, in light of this new dawn, on two hits of anything LBS). If we don’t start to see a crazy ramp-up in retail buying as the significance and implications of this game-changing deal sinks in over the coming weeks I’ll be very surprised.

Canopy is being pro-active to secure our future in the next biggest greenrush and a world class leader in the marijuana business and the US is a part of it. For smart investors that link was just a reminder but for the uninformed it was marijuana usa 101. There's still people out there that don't think this will happen. About 300 million US investors are still waiting for the immunity idol but the smart ones are positioning right now. glta and dyodd

“The company is also among the best connected politically, with the Board of Directors including former Speaker of the House John Boehner and a current candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States,” they wrote in a note. That candidate is William Weld, the Republican former governor of Massachusetts, who has confirmed his plan to challenge President Donald Trump in the 2020 primary. “These relationships will likely prove helpful in pushing for a change in U.S. laws surrounding cannabis, and in particular marijuana, which remains a Schedule I controlled substance,” said Cowen.
