The simple answer is that, if Coca-Cola were to make an investment into Aurora Cannabis, which is possibly something Aurora's management was pushing for, its equity stake in the company would continually be diluted by Aurora's growth-at-any-cost strategy. We've already witnessed the company's stock drastically underperform in relation to its market-cap growth as a result of share-based dilution, and it may very well have been the linchpin that also drove Coca-Cola away back in September.
They didn’t want to sell controlling interests. Only benefits short term shareholders. They didn’t want to drop there pants to the first buyer. To early in the game for that. Grow organically first. Then partner and always keep controlling interests. Common sense pretty much
Its like a few months back when the sector was tanking. Some ACB shareholders were I guess in panic mood and screaming for a partner. For ACB to sell off a huge stake when the sp was like 6-7 bucks. For what? So a company can offer a 35 percent premium on top of that? When you know profitablilty is around the corner. Mass production capacity is around the corner. Grow organically first. Sp wise maybe your at 15-18 bucks (for argument sake) and making a profit. Your business model looks a lot more attractive. You have more leverage. Then seek to partner in different verticals. Canopy did well although I think one day Bruce will no longer call the shots. It least for the company as a whole.
