RE:RE:FlightGlobal closing quote

RE:RE:FlightGlobal closing quoteAs far as I remember, because of the Challenger 600 series development Canadair was loaded with debt, which the press loved to write about. It had not yet been certified and none could could yet be sold/delivered. It was a situation very similar to the C series that created a LOT of debt before it was certified. Much of the Challenger program was paid for with taxpayers money as Canadair was a crown corporation until 1986. When the Mulroney government sold it (gave it away?) to Bombardier that's what created Bombardier Aerospace. When certification arrived the profits quickly began to flow. I don't think Bombardier was responsible for "saving" Canadair. They simply got a great aircraft without the develpoment costs (probably for next to nothing) and have been reaping the rewards $$ of Canadian taxpayers investments ever since.
