Are you saying that the rock has to be 100% gold to be called a boulder?  Your issue is with the presence of some quartz or is it the size? I could understand you having issue with someone calling them "gold nuggets" as they are not pure but a boulder (according to Wikipedia)  
In geology,  is a rock fragment with size greater than 25.6 centimetres (10.1 in) in diameter.
