RE:promotional or not What do you mean by heavily promoting it? The potential of a functional drink was brought up at every presentation at various investment conferences ($17 billion functional drink market, talking about interested parties, etc.). PGX was supposedly the future of the company (instead of contract manufacturing their other ingredients), with the functional drink being their big project.
If you mean additional separate promotion, yes for sure that would have been bad since they didn't have a partner nor a sellable drink (then or at this point in time). And by that I mean a version which customers like the taste of, will pay $ for, believe in the health benefits, etc. Also the company still has no way of getting it to customers. So far they've basically just added their ingredients to a home-made orange drink. Any potential sales seem to be far off and especially dissappointing is that there has been seemingly no progress since the study was released a year ago. I don't see what they could even promote until they get these thing in order (so yep, even more waiting, as you said).

What if CZO heavilty promoted its functional drink last year, it would have disappointed the market as a deal was never announced. The stock would have seen a spike and late comers to the story would have gotten burned on the downntrend and the company would have lost more credibility.
Essentially the share price could be close to where it is now.
Gilles is laying out the facts and moving the fundatmentatls forwards. As painful as it is for us, we just have to wait it out and let the story unfold.
