Ontario MPPs on Board @ PKGBringing 2 Ontario MPPs on board is significant from not only from PKG's pov getting insight to the government's thinking, but also from the Ontario gov't pov trying to build bridges with the private sector in solving a key distribution dilemma for not just weed but for liquor, tobacco, pharma, etc.
These 2 appointments would certainly be cleared through the PC leadership as Ontario struggles to find a safe, reliable, economic, dynamic, and technologically integrated delivery partner for controlled substances to 35% of Canada's population (13 million people).
From a liability and public policy standpoint, I don't see an alternative for Ontario besides possibly a half-baked regional patchwork delivery solution nobody is satisfied with and exposes the province to several risks. Ontario's government is looking for a reliable partner for delivering controlled substances province-wide.
PKG has delivered 2 million + parcels for the largest online retailer enjoying "gold" status, and it now has experience delivering controlled substances (including weed) in 3 provinces. PKG has also re-stated its intention to expand into Ontario this calendar year.
Designating PKG the official distribution licensee for Ontario would provide consistency and stability province wide and make the gov't look prudent while mitigating risk.
IMO PKG is much closer to being an official delivery partner with the Ontario government serving 13 million people.
