RE:RE:Autoflowering vs. feminized , crop protections Ipanema, 300,000 plants, 40,000 already started indoors; additional from seed (from article at link below). I havent heard status of seed collection, except back in Feb. was told everyone was fighting for seeds this year, causing some major LPs to settle on sub-par cultivars (hopefully not the case, here). My understanding is that auto-flower would only be used for early planting before a first crop (due to quick, hardy, and no fall light change required to cause flowering, i.e., "auto-flower") and that a single-crop year would skip straight to a more traditional variety for outdoor. Not sure about planting method in particular, but Id anticipate a lot of manual labour throughr the season. Friend on the Rez (where they sound to be hiring from) suggested that personel requirements are "up there." Your weather event concens come down to probability. For example, I grew up nearby on a 45acre "hobby farm," but amidst and having summer jobs at large scale farms, and I've never known one to be utterly devastated by weather events. That said, fruit tree farmers on the other side of Brantford took it hard a couple of years ago due to frost during flowering, but that doesnt seem too pertinent to the cannabis crop given timing. Some risk? Sure. It comes down to gauging probability versus investment risk comfort level. Things could also go very well. My understanding is that the 40,000kg target was for one crop only (why their target is 1/3 to 1/2 of other LPs for outdoor this year - they're being more conservative).
