A high close is a tactic used by stock manipulators, who make small trades at high prices during the final minutes of trading to give the impression that the stock did very well.

Why the heck would someone buy 500 sharees to up the price at closing? That kind of draw the attention away form the fact that at 21:59:07 25k shares were traded at .39.

Which is more meaningful: 25,000 shares at .39 or 500 shares at .40? The closing price of KAT gives the impression that the stock did very well. Actually it didn't. 25k shares traded at .39 is more meaningful than 500 shares traded at closing to up the price to .40.

Still very interesting: 50 % of the daily volume traded during the last 60 seconds of the trading day.
