RNC uncovers more bonanza grades at Beta Hunt

RNC uncovers more bonanza grades at Beta HuntGood interview with Mark Selby interviewed by Jarrod Lucas on ABC’s Western Australia Country Hour June 6th 2019. Radio show & my transcript:

Radio show: from 23:30 - 27:40: https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/wa-country-hour/wa-country-hour/11166152

My transcript:

Belinda Varischetti: « Spectacular gold specimens have been unearthed at Kambalda’s Beta Hunt mine. For the second time in 9 months. The Goldfields mine made international headlines just last year after producing some of the biggest specimens ever seen. That discovery was called the Father’s Day Vein and the company which own’s Beta Hunt about 40,000,000 $ AUD of high-grade gold. That included a 94 KG rock covered in gold and last night, the company announced on the Canadian Stock Exchange it just found nearly 1,000 ounces of gold worth about 1,900,000 $ AUD. ABC’s Jarrod Lucas spoke  to Mark Selby, he’s CEO of RNC Minerals which owns the Beta Hunt mine. »

Mark Selby: « You know I’d love to be able to say we’re gonna find one of these every week but we don’t know when we’re gonna find them exactly. But we know when these two structures intersect, in and around that area we’ll find more high-grade coarse gold. The exciting thing is we’ve just done ore drives to each of the levels. We still have all of the material that’s sitting between them across several hundred meters of strike length that we’ll be mining as stopes over the coming year. Hopefully lots of news flow during the next twelve months. »

Jarrod Lucas:  « Twice in 9 months now, you must be very excited when you get that phone call in Toronto, they’ll talk to you for hitting another rich patch. »

Mark Selby: « Yeah, there’s getting e-mails in the middle of the night with pictures of gold bearing rocks sitting everywhere are always great pictures to get. »

Jarrod Lucas:  « How does it change the fortunes of the mine? Because you did have it up for sale. I guess that for sale sign has truly been taken down? »

Mark Selby: « Yeah, and burned. We are very, very happy with the asset now and again, when we bought the mine, we just wanted to raise the money to drill it out properly.  We’ve now done that because of the cash on the Father’s Day Vein. We’re hoping to turn this into a much larger, very long-life operation which will be a good source of jobs in the Kambalda area for many years to come. »

Jarrod Lucas:  « You’ve taken three of the biggest specimens from last years discovery around the world over the last few months. Tell us the countries they’ve been to. What are some of the feedback you get from people around the world? »

Mark Selby: « It’s been very exciting. We’ve got that whole set of specimens, the very large ones that we’ve found in addition to some of the more spectacular smaller specimens.  We’ve taken them to  mining conferences in Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom. We’ve taken them to some of the of the worlds leading mineral shows. The were at the leading mineral show in Tucson, they were at the leading mineral show just recently in China and so, it’s amazing to watch people. I’ve had the former CEO’s of some of worlds largest mining companies sit there crouching behind one of these rocks trying to get a selfie with one of these rocks and you see the reaction of the people to these specimens. So, it’s been great to be able to generate all this interest and promotion  in mining and gold exploration in general. »

Jarrod Lucas:  « The latest discovery what exactly is going to happen to the gold there? Is most of it going to be crushed or you keep some of these samples? »

Mark Selby: « Yeah, they’ll be a few smaller specimens that we’ll keep but, most of it will be crushed and poured into gold bar and turned in cash for the bank sooner than later. With this discovery again, one more confirmation of the model we have. We’ll hopefully bump into more of these over the next few months here. »

Belinda Varischetti:  « RNC Minerals CEO Mark Selby with Jarrod Lucas. Why wouldn’t you turn it into a gold bar as soon as possible? Because the current price of gold is at a record high of 1909 $ AUD an ounce and some market analysts believe the price can go even higher. You can read more about this latest gold discovery on ABC News online. »
