Isn't he allowed to sell at whatever price he wants?  i.e. not maximize his returns?  

If he is in cahoots with people shorting the stock than wouldn't that be illegal?

Again, even dumping at .44 I suspect that he is still coming out with a significant profit, just not as much as if he was selling at 0.75 or higher.  His loss.
