- what oil goes east is primarily south of the border.

-Midstream companies build, inspect, and maintain pipelines. They have contingency plans for emergencies.

-What do you mean “secure” the pipelines? Most are underground. Above ground facilities are enclosed and locked. What are you expecting?

-Coast guard for TMX??? We already have hundreds of freighters plying coastal waters every year, many with hazardous cargo (including petroleum products). Also hundreds of smaller vessels (not related to TMX in any way). There were already 5 additional emergency response stations under construction prior to TMX. They are now on hold pending resolution of the current fiasco.

-CPP comes out of Ottawa, not BC. “Huge” is not a number. How much is it costing BC for Albertans retiring there (in dollars)? They get counted for equalization as well, since they now pay taxes in BC.

mnztr wrote: You guys need to do math. Your oil is shipped to the east via pipelines no? Who maintains all that infrastructure, emergency prepardness? What about the coast guard for TMX? who regulates all that mess, who owns the ultimate liablility? Who secures the pipelines? The cost of Alberta retirees is in BC is HUGE, all their CPP, OAS and GIS + heathcare. All those bills come due. I don't know what the total is but I am guess you don't either or you would have posted it.
