Share Consolidation

Share Consolidation
Someone please explain to me why the Consolidation is so bad for retail investors. If for example someone owns 20,000 shares at a price of .20 per share, the total value is $4,000. After the 1:20 Consolidation they will own 1,000 shares at a price of $4 per share, for a total value of $4,000. What am I missing? Please let me know. Thanks
