Democracy1) The Liberals won 184 seats, fair and square. They were the only party, I think, who won seats in all 10 provinces, with 144 of them in so called mainly "english" provinces. Millions of people voted according to their priorities and this is called "democracy". Again, I didn't vote Liberal.
2) Quebec didn't "extort" equalization. The law, including the formula, was not passed by the Quebec legislature, but by Ottawa, by an english CONSERVATIVE Prime Minister Harper and benefits 6 provinces. I did vote for Harper in 2015, as did most of my family. One of my daughters voted NDP, which is her absolute right and she is not a lemming.
3) Quebec has returned some Conservative majorities and John A. Macdonald, Diefenbaker and Mulroney come to mind.
4) Crime, in general, is higher in Western Canada, not because westerners are nastier, but because, statistically, crime is primarily caused by young men. The population of Western Canada is younger, in general, than Eastern Canada.
5) The Prairie Provinces didn't exist at confederation with Manitoba joining in 1870 and Alberta and Saskatchewan following in 1905. All were carved out of the Hudsons Bay Company. My grandfather had older brothers in the Qu'appelle Valley in the late 1870's, and, trust me, they weren't sending much tax money to Ottawa to be distributed.
