RE:RE:When Constellation got on boarddoobiebaby wrote: geodcan, you have clearly not toured California, Colorada, Nevada, Oregon, Washington or any other legal state. Infused beverages are not a thing and I doubt they ever really become a thing because weed tastes like sh*t. It's not a good flavour and it never will be a good flavour. Sure there are these idiots who will tell you how good it tastes, but it does not taste very good against other profiles especially when you ingest it. So don't tell me that this company that makes sh*tty tasting booze is going to make good tasting weed products. It's just never going to be a thing because weed tastes like sh*t and it smells bad and I love it for its effects, but holy h*ll no one with any palate is going to tell you that this stuff tastes great. It is taken for its effects and not for its flavour. F*ck me there are a bunch of dopes who think that they can make this stuff taste good and it is never going to taste all that good and be pure and have the effects that I want it to have.
And I ask the question why the f*ck do you need to eat an edible when you can just pop a pill? Honestly, I think this beverage thing is the biggest joke in cannabis. And if these Constellation guys think they can make a drink that is easier to consume than a gel cap then I really think these idiots are dreaming. Because most people want to consume a drink for refreshment and taste and yes in terms of alcohol the effects, but do you really need to drink aspirin or tylenol or advil or any other drug except alcohol?
The only reason alcohol is consumed in a beverage format is because that is the only delivery method that makes sense for alcohol. You can't really take an alcohol gel cap. You can't vape or smoke alcohol. These guys are just trying to use the only delivery method they know and frankly a square peg does not fit in a round hole.
So if you think you are going to make a fortune off infused beverages I think you better think a bit harder. Maybe you should invest in Dixie Elixers or Tinley or some of these other trumped up companies that are going no f*cking where buddy. Throw all your money behind beverages and you are going to lose your godd*m shirt I think.
Okay, there's a couple things i think you may be missing...
Most people drink alcohol because they're alcoholics, lol! If we're talking about
"first time cannabis users especially" & they go into dispensaries & buy a product that either taste great or decent enough to consume daily, with less calories & sugar than the alcoholic counterpart, or even an much healtheir than alternative energy drinks, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where those consumers are going to shift...
Sure, there's a group of society who go out to bars on the regular & drink alcohol, but it's not for
"the taste." And Energy Drinks like Monster etc dont taste good either, and they're no healthy that's for sure.... For the most part liquor sales are not soley due to the
"taste" of the drink, although the taste is the difference between a
Corona with a lime & a
Miller Lite.
Some drinks are popular, and others are not! Drinking for social gatherings, sporting events, health purposes, refreshment purposes,
weather it's alcohol or not, is just a natural way of living since you've been sucking from your moms you know who as
doobiebaby! Okay, couple things to think about here...
1, Canopy said they are going to be doing a study with NHL players, over 100 if I'm not mistaken.. Well, they could run a study with a CBD beverage like
Hemplify, since "you" brought up Tinley Beverages as an example, and market it like a Gatorade or Powerade, etc etc.. Hemplify or not, this is a avenue that would be very smart to get into early, especially with some NHL players drinking your
"tasty" CBD infused beverages, and some medical data points to back it up...
How big can the CBD Beverage market be?
According to cannabis industry analysts at the Brightfield Group, the hemp-CBD market could go from just $591 million in 2018, to over $22 billion by 2022.
These growth rates are much faster than the wider medical cannabis or recreational cannabis industries.
It's important to consider that some of the largest & more "profitable" companies in the world are beverage companies!
I don't need to post the market caps of all the publicly traded beverage companies, but a few for reference never hurt.
STZ - 38.13B
KO- 221.83B
BUD - 179.39B
MNST - 35.87B
BF.A - 26.93B
DEO - 102.51B
PEP - 185.82B
You get the picture already I'm sure......
2, One of the only reasons Canopy has this Billion Dollar Market Cap is because they got a Billion Dollar investment from a
"Beverage" company.. So to suggest that Canopy is going to lose it's shirt by being early innovators in
cannabis infused beverages is
silly... In the early 2000s, the energy drink space barely existed and the household names we know today were just entering the marketplace. Red Bull was introduced in 1997 followed by Rockstar Energy Drink in 2001, Monster Energy in 2002 and Rip It in 2004. So how big is this market today? According to a Grand View Research forecast released in July 2017, the global energy drinks market is projected to be almost $85 billion by the year 2025. The biggest success story for investors is probably Monster Energy, which was known as Hansen Natural and only had sales of $34 Million before they launched their Energy drinks. Today, that company is known as Monster Beverage Corporation (MNST) (Market Cap: $34.627 Billion; Share Price: $62.62) and it had sales of over $3.8 Billion last year. - Rockstar Energy Drinks signed a multi-year distribution agreement with PepsiCo in 2009 and now has sales of over $900M in 2018.
- National Beverage Corp. (FIZZ) (Market Cap: $3.121 Billion; Share Price: $66.92) are the owners of Rip It Energy, Lacroix and Shasta, and had sales of over $1 Billion last year.
Anyway, time will tell per usual...
Here's some of Bruce Cambell thoughts on BNN a little over a week ago, not only on tinley beverages but the entire cannabis infused beverage space..
