Is the practice widespread?
Is the practice widespread?I think the most important question for Health Canada right now is to determine whether the problem is widespread? Are all companies exasperated with the detays in the licensing and already ramping up production a little prematurely? If yes, then this is just the tip of the iceberg and they can end up collapsing the whole industry if they start revoking licences to the first, and the second, and the next to be brought to light.
Further, do they create havoc for the 73000 or so medical customers relying on Canntrust product, just to serve a warning to the industry?
The response is likely to be measured and imho no licences will be revoked.
On the HC side, the time it is taking for issuing no brainer licenses is quite inefficient and embarassing and is challenging for the entire industry. Let me remind everyone that there are three types of submissions: 1-) those that should be automatic yes, that should be approved in like 10 days or so (not a year)., such as the requests from Canntrust 2-) those that are automatic no, that should be rejected in like 10 days or so (not a year), and 3-) those in the grey zone that need lots of evaluation. If HC followed this approach, they could improve the entire process, be a lot more efficient and improve the operations for the entire industry. They do not need to evaluate to death every single request to the same degree.
