Now its a local concern .. Looks like a International concern in 2006-08 is now hitting home locally. Recently CWD (deer) has been exposed and could become possible epidemic in North America and now sheep scrapie is making it our way. In 06-08, our original company Amorfix , was working on diagnostics for sheep scrapie and vcjd. This pattern of prion diseases is a concern. Europe intially gave the all clear that mad cow disease(BSE) was not a concern to humans. Thousands of cattle were culled regardless and it looked ok. Years later vcjd starts to raise its ugly head and scientists connected it with the consumption of BSE infected meat So do we reley on the words of govts that there is no threat to humans from consuming meat infected with cwd or meat infected by sheep scrapie.... A prion is a prion reagardless. Interesting article by Dr Cashman back tens years ago , where he said these diseases were going to become an epidemic.
Unbeknowed to many, presently there are a number of long time PMN shareholders who are pushing govts agencies to revisit what Dr Cashman was saying and also encourage them to look at what Canadian scientists were and are developing in reference to diagnostics and vaccinnes for these two animal disease (at least just animal at this point in time)
Also on the radar you can find that prion disease as infected almost all the bison and buffalo in north America. A few new herds in Alberta could be used to restart bison and buffalo populations around the world. In all of these animals diseases, until a vaccine is found, the only way to get rid of the disease is cull the animals and all of them, as exposure is through close contact and the disease in their food supply.

Scrapie detected on two Alberta farms
A fatal disease for sheep and goats, similar to BSE in cattle, has been detected in Alberta – reportedly in central Alberta.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says two flocks of sheep were confirmed to be infected with scrapie, a form of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy that affects the central nervous system.
Similar diseases include chronic wasting disease in deer and elk, and Creutzfelt-Jakob disease in humans.
Food inspection agency protocol is to quarantine and euthanize the animals both infected and at risk of contracting the disease, as well as investigate other potentially infected animals.
