Wrote a scathing reply to above troubles but got deleted. Agreed it is a bad situation carried over the years. When the immovable object meets the irrestible force then let them continue to play stupid as stupid does games to see who will blink first.
Let Gom nationalize/expropriate the mine. Let Rio stop operating and walk away. Stop paying taxes and royalties.Take the dispute to world courts to obtain settlements. World banks and IMF can also exert added pressure to recover out of control debts....
Looking back I have lost faith in both Rio and GoM. hard lessons learned to stay away from unstable frontier markets and their Gov'ts.
