It is not economically feasible to ship Wyoming coal to southern or eastern ports for export to Asia. They send it, instead, through BC ports and doing anything to discourage that will probably violate NAFTA rules as well as affecting Canadian-sourced exports and encouraging other countries to export more. There are over 1800 coal-fired generating plants planned or under construction in Asia. THEY WILL GET THEIR COAL!!!

Wyoming based Cloud Peak (that mines coal in Montana and Wyoming) is part of two lawsuits filed in 2018 trying to lift those bans and the source for those Vancouver shipments . This dirty coal curtailment is Obama era laws but Vancouver was only too happy to step in and ship that filth.
