Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

In the long term it is clear Aphria is back on track and doing all of the right things.

During the AMA Carl Merton was quite candid responding to the question about how he got into this sector in the first place.  He referenced Vic Neufeld often and cited it was Neufeld who brought him to Aphria.  There appears to be no stigma attached to this association.

What is done is done.

I cannot think of anything that could have been pulled off better last quarter.  I expected that push above 10 after the Cramer interview to stay there.

But the cloud of "temporary help" hangs above Aphria.  I can't imagine it's a border crossing issue...Linton seemed to have no issues.  Aphria has no business interests in the USA.  That was clearly stated during the conference call.  But who knows.

Perhaps it is just optics...I believe making Irwin permanent CEO, and finding a Chairperson to ensure we don't revert to both positions being filled by one person, would be a great move.  Governance is the key issue for many of these companies and the sooner Aphria sends out the message they have a permanent senior management team the better.
