Management TeamI've read some interesting comments regarding CEO Ryan Kalt (and RGLD's management) on some other boards and sites. The main "dig" is that Ryan isn't a geologist and RGLD lacks geologists/mining engineers on its team.
I've been in touch with Ryan, and one thing is clear...he knows what he knows, and more importantly what he doesn't know. It's pretty clear he knows how to manage a company with a keen eye on the bottom line and keeping expenses reigned in. It's how RGLD currently has only 25 million shares outstanding, and will only have an additional 2 million after this financing.
Speaking of which...it's clear he knows a thing or two about raising money with minimal dilution. Some will say he did so buy buying shares himself. Exactly...it's refreshing to have a CEO with a direct stake in a company (over 30%) and willing to continually add to his holdings so that dilution is minimalized. As I've said before, he could invest his own personal funds anywhere...and he's chosen to do so in this exploration company, lessening dilution and increasing shareholder value for ALL its shareholders.
It's clear he can maximize shareholder value for shareholders as he did with Gold Royalties where he was CEO and saw the sp go from 0.04 to Sandstorm's 0.20 takeover offer. Anyone who has been holding RGLD for any length of time can also attest to that as our sp has gone from 0.07 to its current 0.30...a 329% increase...pretty good return...so far! ;)
Like I said, he also knows what he doesn't know. The company will be contracting consulting geologists that are experts in Red Lake style deposits, particularly Dixie area. This is a prime example of effective management. Keeping a staff of exploration geologists, mine engineers, etc. can be good...but they must be paid somehow. Again, it comes down to effectively managing funds. Why have people permanently on staff, draining resources, when you can hire them for a specified term...and also hire experts in that specific field where you are exploring or need. Some of the best consulting firms have top notch, world reknown specialists in any specific area of need. Why not have access to the best personnel?
At any rate, management and management style was one of the predominant reasons I invested in RGLD, and it's paid off quite handsomely for me so far.
