musings

musings
I am doing a little musing this morning, and it wont hurt my feelings if you aren't interested and don't read this.  There wont be any new facts here.

It is very easy to assume the worst when one doesn't know what's happening: it is very much a position of weakness, not a comfortable place.  And the problem of course is that we don't have any facts.  Normally the CEO of a company that is in a very volatile place that Core is in at this time, would feel that it is his duty to give at least some indication of the path forward.  That of course isn't going to happen.  And the former CEO, Mr. Piggott, is still on the BOD so he has many constraints on saying anything.

And then there are the regulators.  It is mine and others opinion that the judgment made on the merger attempt was a very big deal, at least in terms of Core Gold, which we must remember isn't that big a deal in the scheme of things.  Judges are the top of the pyramid in the system that Canada has.  Governments, police, regulators, everyone,  answers and has to listen to them.  And the judgement made regarding this Titan/Core merger was very striking.  And the judge reached his conclusions after two days, when two years isn't a long period of time in judicial things.  It seems very plausible that the regulators are going over things very thoroughly and carefully.  Regulators might be slow to awaken, but once they do the bad guys gotta watch out.  And , again, of course they will say nothing.  The first we might hear from them is that arrest warrants have been issued, for example.  (When I speculated on the Titan deal, when we were in the thick of it, the only way it made sense to me, was that Reyes was on both sides of the deal.  I don't know much about securities laws, but ...   So I would think it is very possible that the BOD4 and Sam are doing all they can to lessen their legal liabilities, keeping mum,  hoping the spotlight doesn't shine on them.  For them to attempt another share stealing deal would seem ,well, unlikely.  Doubly so that the ones attempting to put together  the last steal , Sedun, Bailey, Sam, Luis, etc. proved themselves to be so inept.  I just think that it is still very possible that the 'judgement' will have some serious repercussions.  Ones we like.)  Anyway, jail time would be an extreme outcome, but I would think that them trying to do something questionable would be unlikely, and if they did would be met with those 'serious repercussions'.  I could be totally wrong, but based on what we know: nothing, I am just as likely to be right.  No news isn't always bad news, but it is so hard to stay away from thinking the worst.

Another really big positive is the price of gold.  A little while ago I checked on the market cap changes of the top 10 large gold co's. held in GDX.  And amazingly in the past little while 6 of those have doubled or almost doubled, 2 have tripled.  These are multi billion dollar market cap increases.  And yet GDX is only half what it was in 2011 - 2013, so there could very well be much more to come.  Gold fever has yet to strike in a big way ( I still remember in 1979 secretaries lining up during their lunch breaks to buy gold) , but when it does things can get crazy , like Kinross buying Fruta del Norte for $1.2 billion in 2008.  When Zhongjin made their offer for part of Core , gold was mostly sub $1300, and had been for years.  $1534, a few minutes ago and rising, makes for a very different game.  I would think that now they would need to sweeten the deal.

And what might be a really big positive for me and many others, is it seems quite possible that Titan has been destroyed.  Again there is no information at this time, but it is for sure not unreasonable to think this might be happening.  Probably wont help the children of Tulin, but maybe the Peru authorities will fund a clean up.  Titan no doubt  will escape with paying nothing.  But the death of Titan will none the less be sweet.

So in conclusion, if anyone is still reading, is that no info is deadly to share price.  And some of what we do know is really bad.  Like when Mr. Piggott was fired by the BOD4 , that left only dishonest and/or incompetents in charge.  It is hard not to worry about that.  I do for sure.  And I am not buying shares at what  could very well be a  chance of a quick double or triple.  For sure I am not selling at these prices however. And at the first sign that the BOD4 has lost the ability to do something bad ...
