RE:Spectra7 and x2j0a0x0 >>> My participation is intermittent at best. I won’t spew anything on the board unless I think it will add value, clarify something, or correct misinformation... or admit I am wrong / correct / embellish something. I also like to be positive (because I am invested), then disclaim any concerns I may have about risk... because everyone should constantly be setting and resetting their understanding of what they are holding. I like facts... people can do with them what they will. I try to avoid emotion.
i also don’t want to get into or be part of these games of personal attacks.
This place is complete dysfunction. I will always take feedback. But this place... it isn’t normal at all. Normal healthy discussion means acknowledging the validity of someone’s perspective or aspects of that perspective that you agree with, then providing counterpoints / arguments to the contrary for things you don’t agree with or don’t like. That gets the conversation and tone off to a positive start. And it should be facts (or guesses are okay, if appropriately disclaimed). It lets everyone involved understand that (sometimes) it isn’t a battle to the death for one side or another, but a discussion that lets everyone become the wiser at the end, new perspectives, or to simply walk away comfortably and peacefully with your thoughts and resolve intact, even if there wasn’t consensus (we can agree to disagree).
And most of the posts are jaded to one side or the other. No one wants to concede the validity of someone’s thoughts if they have already called them names, even if there is something valid being said.
Plus people say things that infer a position (eg negative or positive) then dress it up as something else, or play semantic games to mess with the board. No value.
Or people obscure / obfuscate true intentions. There are some slimy posts and people here. Vultures. Unethical behaviour.
So unhealthy.
Don’t get me wrong. I can take an attack because logic always prevails... and I really don’t care what a bunch of yahoos or goons have to say anyway.
But also, there are some really great, knowledgeable (or new), ethical people on here... and if I am going to post, then this is my audience. Hopefully, this is the group that says... “hey, that is valuable... and I also appreciate that your words aren’t always coated in sugar, false, or blemished with venom”.
Really not not sure how much my posts are appreciated in the grand scheme anyway. So why waste too much time?
Also I have a job. This is guilty leisure.
