RE:VR Exihibitions are one thing; LAN Centers are another thing
RE:VR Exihibitions are one thing; LAN Centers are another thingVR needs to hit a tipping point where the general masses get excited about it, and not just is tech geeks or serious gamers. I do agree that the explosive growth lies in multiplayer options, and now the social aspect of VR needs to be focused on as well as the content. There are only so many zombies/aliens/bad guys i can shoot up and still find interesting.
I think the world is waiting for something like the “Oasis”, somewhere you plug in to and enjoy the social aspect. How you scale that with something like Arkave I’m not sure... maybe a less expensive option that can be installed in people’s homes (rich people to start obviously). I think we want the social, multiplayer aspect, but we don’t always want to run out to an arcade arena, wait in line, and then play for 20-40 minutes and then that’s it. I want to play for hours at home connected to other users I can meet in virtual space, and either play games or explore distant lands or museums, or whatever... the possibilities are endless..
What if one day houses were listed for sale with something like, “three bedrooms, two bathrooms. 15x15 VR room ready... the problem right now is all the equipment is so expensive and becomes obsolete in a year or two, so who could afford to constantly upgrade their home experience...
thats just my two cents.. I loved the free roam VR I have experienced,
but I just can’t seem to get myself to go back very often as the 20-40 minute time period is such a letdown.. also, sharing the goggles with other people grossed me out a bit when the pair I put on were a bit damp from someone else’s sweat.
