RE:RE:RE:CO2Harvest still trying at least
RE:RE:RE:CO2Harvest still trying at leastThere seems to be more happening (good or bad) than we're being told. In the past, CST has famously publicized "chance" opportunities like the feasibility study for mining, XPRIZE etc. But there has been a shift. For example, as far as I know, they haven't announced anything about their participation in "Sky's the Limit" with SAF+ yet And I'm guessing that they received a small amount of funding there. And I tend to think whether they win or not, this is a big win considering that Air Transat is among the partners + the billions of barrels of sustainable fuel demand that there will be in the coming years. Having said all of that, I honestly don't know what to do with this investment other than sit and wait. I'm at a complete loss for why they are not getting the attention and funding that they deserve within Canada.
Apart from the Serres Toundra demo period ending in November (likely?), here are other other potential tlmelines to watch assuming that CST is able to sustain itself in the meantime:
- Sky's the Limit: $7.5M Winners announced Spring of 2021 - https://impact.canada.ca/en/challenges/green-aviation
- Projet Becancour: Fall? Spring 2020? - $$Unknown - I think 60-100TPD CCUS unit - https://projetbecancour.ag/ - News page appears to be down at the moment but there was a June 3 post mentioning that they were looking at Enzymatic-carbon capture as an option
- XPRIZE (possible surprise) - Fall 2020 - They had partnerships with Cert and Carbicrete. Carbicrete dropped out so we still have Cert. CST's website says that they are a finalist in the final $7.5M round (https://co2solutions.com/en/projects/) and that may just be because they are not updating their website but you never know. Like I say, I think they're doing more than they're letting on.
All of this could end in disappointment for us but 2020-2021 could be mildly interesting IF they can sustain themselves long enough. And that's not counting Coal21's influence which may/may not mean anything for CST but would be great if it helped them secure a a first deal down under.
