Thermal Energy International Inc. provides energy efficiency and emissions reduction solutions to the fortune 500 and other multinational companies. It operates primarily in North America and Europe but also sells its products and services through representative agents throughout the rest of the world. It markets, sells, engineers, fabricates, constructs, installs and supports two technology lines, such as heat recovery solutions, including direct contact heat recovery solutions (FLU-ACE), indirect contact heat recovery solutions (HEATSPONGE and SIDEKICK), and condensate return system solutions (GEMTM steam traps). It is also developing several other technology lines, including low temperature biomass drying systems (DRY-REX). Its solutions can recover up to 80% of energy lost in typical boiler plant and steam system operations.   • The Future Economy Network is happy to announce we will be joined by Thermal Energy and subscribers Ashfords and The Kensa Group for this event to discuss heat recovery.

     

    Neel Mehta, Partner in the Construction and Infrastructure Department at Ashfords LLP, will be giving a talk entitled 'A Brief Review of the Legal Aspects of Creating a Heat Network'.

     

    David Broom, Commercial Director at Kensa, will discuss Community Heating and Cooling with Shared Ground Loop Heat Pumps.

    David will discuss how heat networks and sustainability is the core of what Kensa do. David will be talking about how they use Shared Ground Loop ground source heat pumps as an alternative to traditional heat networks, and how their innovative system architecture removes all of the issues experienced with a central plant alternative. Providing the best possible outcomes for the resident and the building owner. David will also run through a couple of case studies of schemes they have delivered.


    Andy Bennett, Southern Key Account Manager at Thermal Energy International, will give an introduction to flue losses and how to capture them. 

    Andy will discuss the main applications for flue heat recovery, how it can show savings and what schemes are available at the moment to increase the uptake of heat recovery systems. He will also touch on a few installations and their impact so far.

    Neel Mehta, Partner, Construction and Infrastructure Department, Ashfords LLP

    Neel has more than 16 years’ experience advising on significant and complex construction and engineering, infrastructure and energy (including hydrothermal projects and heat networks) and waste projects. He acts for a number of leading service providers and users in the construction and engineering, energy and waste sectors, including major contractors, developers, governmental departments, insurers and construction professionals. Neel has complete working knowledge and expertise in relation to all types of construction contracts and documentation used in the UK and internationally. Neel is independently recognised as an expert in the field of Construction by Chambers UK, a guide to the legal profession.

     

    David Broom, Commercial Director, Kensa

    David has 13 years of experience working with the design and application of ground source heat pumps. David joined Kensa in 2008 and works on large complex commercial applications of ground source heat pump projects. In his time with the company he has played a key role in establishing shared ground loops as a recognised solution for tackling fuel poverty, carbon reduction, air quality and energy security in both the social housing and new build development sector.

     

    Andy Bennett, Southern Key Account Manager, Thermal Energy International

    Andy joined TEI in 2011 and has worked to develop steam system modernisation and flue gas heat recovery projects within the public and private sector. Particularly with the NHS, his projects have helped bring boiler and CHP installations to 99% efficiency, whilst securing funding streams available to different industry sectors to encourage uptake of technology.
