RE:RE:Good example of why we are in this messThe fact that it makes meore economic sense for LaFarge to do that than capture co2 seems relevant enough to me. It goes back to government. At least in USA, companies will be paid to sequester or use co2 by the tonne. Canada is so far behind.

They'd get paid to burn tires, much like US cement kilns which can burn hazardous waste because of the long rotary kiln residence time.  I think it's a good use for surplus waste tires but the public is right to complain if the business case boils down to corporate welfare. In this case they don't seem to have invested in any new equipment for emissions (precipitator) but the public complaints also sound dubious.
