if they gave regular announces of positive information to keep shareholders vested, they wouldn’t sell.  Instead, they run and hide.  This is the time strong management would make a difference.
weak management = weak stock price
weak stock price = weak shareholder confidence
weak shareholder confidence = weak share price
and round and round we go....
