RE:how much oil to build a single car battery ?Intresting perspesctive.  I don't have enough background to debate this article... but I call bullshit on the "complexity of the battery compartment.  There may be 1000's of parts (3.7V Lithium based batteries, sensors and solid state components) but there NOT moving parts.   A ICE powertrain has 1000's of moving parts that need to move in sync, that's where the complexity comes.  Also there will be more maintenance issues becomes movement causes friction and friction wears down parts.  Sure it may currently be more expensive to create a battery case than an ICE powertrain... but this cost has been on a downward trend for decades.
