Don't disagree with your main point. But the analogy might be off. Is it not rather like David owning a hot dog stand along with co-owners William and Patrick, and David increases his ownership percentage by buying shares from his partners, because David disagrees with the valuation on the hotdog stand (he believes the price he can pay today for future hotdog profits is lower than his discounted cash flow model, while his co-owners see today's valuation on those future cash flows as perfectly fair)
