The flow of space time, a dynamic entity dictates the behavioural characterisitics of 3 dimensional space and provides the motive force for entities such as galaxies to go into motion and start accelerating apart from each other at an acclerated rate.   If it was the universe expanding causing that motive force, you would violate π and have a distortion within 3 dimensional space.   

What is the motive force provided by space time to put galaxies now in an accelerated and accelerating motion?  It's not expansion of localized space or expansion of the universe it is the cooling component provided by space time and subatomic elements seek equilibrium to a warmer part (newer) part of the universe and hence causing motion.   Analogy would be cold solder flowing towards the heat source.  A special room with walls expanding at a given rate, incorporating infinity, the objects within the room accelerating now faster apart.  It is by design to push unpinned solar systems faster and further away from their heavier counterparts, the galaxies, to preserve equilibrium of life within the universe, a buffer zone from the portion of the universe turned into death and desstruction by advanced humans in the past who thought they could capture suns and build their kingdoms.   You would need to master the ability to locally curve space time and use the largest star as your main b*tch....until the Pebble was dropped and your b*tch turns into a skewed 2 dimensional blackhole.   

This is why elements such as Uranium exhibit radiocative decay, driven by cooling from space time and why the speed of light is not a true constant over long periods of space time.
