Far be it for me to defend the intelligence or competence of the Voting Trust, but I don't believe they put the company in play over a $.025 dividend payment.  Torstar has more than $50 million in cash. That makes no sense even by their low standards.


I'm not a securities lawyer, but I believe they have to miss 8 consecutive payments totaling $.15 to trigger the overthrow of the geriatric brigade. 

I would like to be wrong as it would expedite the end of this madness. You can be sure if they inadvertently triggered B share voting rights that Fairfax would have been on their doorstep today. That would have made the news somewhere.
