I’m not asking for an elaborate spreadsheet, just some high level rationale for your valuation. For example, is your estimate of the value of Torstar’s investments based on the book equity value on Torstar’s balance sheet? Or do you have some insight into the financial results, for say Blue Ant? It’s not that helpful to just throw out numbers if there is no basis for them.
Part of the problem with Torstar is large part of its value is in its investments in which there is limited disclosure.
Would you accept a buy-out offer for Torstar for $1.50 a share? Based on your $4 per share value my guess would be no, but that would represent a 150% premium to the current share price which we should all be thrilled to walk away with.
