Beer sales

Beer salesTo provide some context to the discussion on beer sales.... had some experience in that area. From a liquor retail perspective...wine/spirits/beer... beer will make up 60% of total sales. Of that 60%... depending upon market roughly 60% is domestic... Domestic beer is declining quarter over quarter 10-20% depending upon brand. Some BIG domestic brands are down 30% in core items. This said...Domestic still makes up the majority of the business but craft and “unique” alternative products are growing. 10years ago domestic made up almost 80% of the category sales.

if you are using alcohol as a comparative industry craft is the only category, in the last 3 years, growing in all liquids....beer, wine and spirits. This does not include new items....which for the most part are only successful if they are marketing it in a craft or custom batch package.

If you look in other manufactured goods industries as a comparison...premium offering is the only thing that is winning. Only successful retail is premium right now. Grocery have all gone to “local” “fresh” market. The luxury goods market is booming...lambos, iPhone for 1000....and they have their own craft....electric... millennials are just moving into the most important spending demo and they are voting with their wallets. They want premium, unique and “just for me” products.

in in any manufactured goods market...and I would consider cannabis to be that given how many things it can be produced into.... always go with the companies that have the best product...at least to start. At least that way you can eliminate 1 variable in the investing equation.
