I've been having the exact same thoughts in the last few months... I have seen a few cases with my US biotech stocks where shorts absolutely hammered the share price even as these companies execute on what they promised to deliver....  My only solution is to stick to the fundamentals, try not to be swayed by market volatility and keep enough powder dry that you can take advantage of it when opportunities present - these are just my lessons for myself; you seem to have a very good handle on what's what. :)
