Interview Jay Taylor with Quinton Heinnigh on sorter
Interview Jay Taylor with Quinton Heinnigh on sorterLink: https://jaytaylormedia.com/interviews-and-schedule/
- audio, 20 min long
- relevant reference NOVO NR of 12 Nov 2019
- Steinert and Tomra sorters were used sucessfully last years. They are good for coarse gold.
- Recent development from both companies on "fines" has advanced significantly.
- Quinton went to Perth? there is some testing done there
- NOVO has machines field tested at sorting in Egina project.
- Dry sorting does not require much water no chemical (easier to get permits). "Waste rock" could be put back as infill. For rock that would require crushing, the crushed waste rock could be used as construction material as aggregates (good idea to get some $).
- Operating cost: minimal, $0.26/tonne with high efficiency (rejecting large amount of waste rock).
- A 50 tonne/hr machine would cost ~A $1M, and several machines can operate in parallel to increase the through-put.
- back in 9 August 2019, they had a bulk sample and was able to recover 1.5gpt which is quite good a grade for surface mining. However they had problem in quantifying the fines (rejected in the tails). Now, with the sorters they are hoping to get more Au out of the tails.
- Advance in sorting technology will help other gold miners.
