Hudson's Bay Co, or HBC, is a Canadian retail business group. The company operates department stores throughout Canada, Belgium, Germany, and the United States under various banners. These banners include Saks Fifth Avenue, Hudson's Bay, Lord & Taylor, and Off 5th in North America and Galeria Kaufhof, Galeria Inno, and Sportarena in Europe. HBC also has investments in real estate joint ventures. In Canada, it has partnered with RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust in the RioCan-HBC joint venture.

RE:RE:Nice spike todayThanks! I hate when news comes from journalist articles... Somehow the retail folks are always the last to know. As opposed to a formal PR.

In any case, this is great news for longs... The way I see it is that Catalyst will try to come up with their own bid. If it works out, then we get competing bids and it would be the best imaginable outcome.

If Catalyst doesn't manage to get support from financiers, then I would expect them to change their mind and possibly tender. 

Just makes the downside more unlikely.

I hope they've approched Berkshire in their process... If the RE has the actual value we all think it as, I'm sure Buffet would be all over this.
