RE:SargeAppreciate recent posts on the retirement theme and structuring portfolios to deal with it. I
also have steered away from commodity stocks and will admit to being burned several times
over in the past. I do have one left from my previous life but it will be sold soon after Xmas as
I require all the income and relative stability I can get.
Sarge's posts have validated much of my own thinking because I simply can't live of bank
interest like GIC's etc. I saw the Globe article about the phenomemal year utilities are having
and it's no bloody wonder. We are in a post baby boom retirement generation in a time of
historical low interest rates. This is punishing to retirees and many are just clueless as what
to do in order to enhance their paltry incomes and particularly their pathetic interest income
from their savings. His list is an excellent one and I have many but certainly not all of them in
mine. I am still working on improving and adjusting my wifes and mine to optimize our income
and these posts are so valuable to see. Keep them coming and thanks again. Retired and 70.
