RE:RE:RE:RE:Comparison of rising dividend vs rising stock and sell %Understood. I once read an article that said the investor tried to have enough bank stocks to pay their bank charges though dividends, enough utility stocks to pay their utility bills, enough food stocks with dividends to pay their food costs etc. etc. Interesting concept but not very practicable as your average utility dividend will pay your heating and your food you get the idea
My strategy since the drop in ALA and their cut in dividend was, once I analysed the stock fully to overweight in that stock as I saw great prospects for a major rise. I like current managemne better than you I think especially their new CFO but once I think the rise in ALA has leveled out including another return to dividend increases, I will rebalanc emy portfolio somewhat along the lines you have set up.
I have just reacted to those who do not seem to let go of past ALA bad mistakes but the debt reduction and prospects for RIPET make it a rather nice combo of growth in midstream and steady Eddy for dividends with WGL. I have expertise with option strategies but when I don't want to focus on my portfolio regularly I will stop with the options as it takes considerable time.
I also want to sound the alarm whenever someone - not you gets too carried away by dividends that are too high as that usually doesn't end well. Cheers .
