IdentifyCompletely with your Sarge. I lost on CPG, SGY and and one copper miner to the tune of
$20G and will never return to those sectors. Between Trump playing Mr Dealmaker with the
Chinese and our own duly elected gov't writing off the oil & gas sector like a poster child for bad
environmental practices while the rest of the world just carries on in oblivious fashion, I will
avoid those sectors like the plague. I have been tempted on occasion to buy some Vermiillion
for the dividend and the fact that they have international exposure, but I can't afford the risk
of a possible dividend cut and the subsequent drop in s/p that will surely follow. I too have learned
some bitter, harsh lessons about what is suitalble for retirement and what isn't.
ALA isn't my top choice but I think with patience it will come around and the dividend will be
be raised at some point rather than being cut. Bottom line on this one is total return with no
fear of a cut. In that sense it fits into my screening parameters along with ENB, IPL and others.
Thanks for sharing a bit of history as its good to compare experiences with others on this
financial journey that we have undertaken.
