If another firm wanted to buyout Arc, then now would be the time to act, while the shareprice is still depressed on a historical basis. A private equity buyout at 20% premium could pay for itself in two and a half years with the elimination of the dividend payout. With AECO firming up and what appears to be some semblance of stability in AECO's seasonal price fluctuations, then Arc should remain free cash flow positive for the next few years, after which LNG export facilities should help underpin Canadian natural gas prices and the ongoing profitability of a company like Arc for at least the next decade, as natural gas seems to be the choice for helping countries transition away from more carbon intensive fossil fuels by the middle of this century. As the original poster said, something is triggering this price action, as other natgas companies in the sector have not participated in upside price action to the same extent.
