This keeps bugging me4th March 2019
Interview between reporter and Botswana Minerals Minister.
Reporter; "Is it true that there is a diamond deposit as big as Jwaneng that was discovered in Botswana?"
Minister; "Yes, there is."
Reporter; "Where?"
Minister; "No! [All I can say] it’s in Botswana (laughs)."
The only known big discovery pending development is the Maibwe project. And that's the point - its existence and location were well known before this interview.
So, some (presumably) frustrated diamond explorer/miner is sitting on a massive discovery, which for some unknown reason both the Ministry and the company involved are unable to reveal. The candidates are limited and Lucara must be right up there as a possibility and bear in mind that Eira recently said that they didn't have to go underground at Karowe.
What is the hold-up? What is being worked out? Who is involved? Where is it?
All we know is that like Rupert Brookes' "Soldier" it lies buried in "some corner of a foreign field."
