No it was designed as such from the get go, 1st time at Bombardier (unlike the CRJs) whucih were after thoughts. The fuse sections are the same whether you plug 2 small sections fwd and rear of wings. WIngs are different though, they have reinforcements , but the fuselage is modular. For the 500, it would require somewhat other changes
